In 1975, Ardaiz, Azcona, Ortigosa and Unzué, four local names involved with funeral services since the late 19th century, decided to unite and create the first Memorial Service Facility in Spain in the city of Pamplona: “Irache Funeral Services”.
Confronted by shock, scepticism and outright opposition from peers that feared the unknown, the partnership somehow found a way to offer the people of Navarra this new service at a moment of great social change.
This innovative offer had become viable because most deaths took place in hospitals, the family unit was broadening and the size of homes was decreasing. Under these circumstances, memorial services in private homes were becoming increasingly inconvenient.
As well as offering a comfortable setting to honour those who have passed on before us, from the very beginning, Irache Funeral Services delivered a full service package that freed the families from the required paperwork and dealings during such difficult moments.
In the year 2000, the company decided to intensify its scope of activity at a provincial level and adopted the name of “Irache Funeral Services Group”.
The objective: to render services of the same quality with qualified personnel and material means at any provincial location required by the client. This challenge implied the need for a personalized treatment with counselling and assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In line with our ambitious Expansion Plan, by the summer of 2002, there was a network of Funeral Facilities across the province of Navarra.
